Heather is a qualified Counsellor and a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA)
Heather is a calm and compassionate person who brings a commitment to working with integrity, intelligence, and authenticity in her counselling practice. Heather is keen to support people to enhance their mental health and wellbeing, help with coping through change and illness, help with personal and family challenges, manages symptoms of depression and anxiety, and navigate major life changes. She is enthusiastic about working collaboratively to assist her clients build happier, more resilient, and productive lives while recognising the level of complexity and ambiguity in many of life’s challenges. Her therapeutic approach is Person-Centred with a focus on Strength-Based Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
Heather spent more than 20 years working in adult education, workforce development and managing teams through many organisational ‘transformations’ before undertaking her own transformation to follow her heart to develop her passion for counselling. Her first degrees were in Arts and Education. Heather subsequently pursued fulltime study to be qualified as a Counsellor and work in her own private practice prior to joining our group. She is currently undertaking a Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing to extend her practical strength-based approach which respects the individual person. Heather is also a member of Cancer Counselling Professionals Inc.
Outside of Heather’s work roles she practices healthy habits with strength training, walking, daily meditation, getting outside into nature and community gardening.
