University Placement Clinics

From time to time HeadwayHealth assists in the training of psychologists and counsellors.  It has been our pleasure to host a number of clinical placements as part of advanced Masters level courses with the University of Canberra, Charles Sturt University and Institute for Social Neuroscience Victoria.  Students who undertake advanced studies typically have a passion for helping others and desire to make a difference, and all will bring knowledge from their academic studies on the latest up-to-date evidence-based training and interventions.  Our group recognises the valuable and practical skills students bring to their work with clients facing a range of life’s challenges.   

Students offer services at the Clinic as part of their practical clinical training and are closely supervised at HeadwayHealth by one or more qualified and experienced clinicians with professional qualifications in Counselling, Social Work or Psychology.  We know connection with your clinician is a key part of your care, and being heard and validated is a fundamental starting point in working out how to adjust, to grieve and to live life fully in all aspects of your wellbeing.   All have a full Police Check and Working with Children Check prior to the start of their placement.  The clinic charges a reduced fee for services to assist with operation costs; Medicare rebates do not apply. Written consent is sought for all aspects of the service and care is provided in line with professional standards.
